One of West Virginia's most experienced players is returning for a fifth and final season of college football. Doug Nester, the Mountaineers' right guard, announced Thursday he is coming back for a third season at WVU, which will be his final go-around at the college level. A native of Kenova and former standout at Spring Valley High School, Nester began his college career at Virginia Tech where he played in 19 games and started 17 at right guard over the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

Nester then opted to transfer to West Virginia and started all 13 games at the same position in 2021. In his second season with the Mountaineers, Nester made 11 starts between right tackle and right guard. With the exception of last season's loss to TCU, Nester has started each of West Virginia's other 24 games over the last two years. Nester had previously said he was undecided on whether or not he would return in the week leading up to WVU's final game of the season at Oklahoma State. - WV MetroNews
